Considering the moustache-maina going on in "The Very Secret Diaries of" over at C&C, and janeturenne trying to scrub the mental image of a moustachioed Lestrade out of her mind, it was with mixed feelings I watched "Paradise Postponed" ep 11...

Yes, it's a Dr. Watson-moustache! It's growing on a senile old geezer who once worked as an accountant and is now re-living old errors.

Double-chin! *eep*

Old man outfit: trousers pulled up to the chest - check, tie tucked in the trousers - check.

And it doesn't stop there... after PP I flicked through "Fall of Eagles", a great historical monster of a tv-drama starring half of all British actors around in 1974. Here CJ has three lines. I hope he got paid extra for bringing his own beard. (Btw, note how much he looks like his scruffy offspring here! As seen in the Reuben video recording backstage thingy)

You might have seen some of this already on Deviantart, but I'm posting it here as well. This started as a shortie about Watson having sad dreams, but then I somewhat nonsensically planted a case in the middle of that. So this is page 6, 7, 8 and 9. :) And counting..

Another tv-series I've never ever heard of, but apparently it was shown on UK Gold at some point (see logo bottom left corner). CJ is a strict headmaster moving a boy out of his school because Boy has an extra Y-chromosome which could be potentially dangerous.. or something. I was busy looking at that longish hair and sexy sideburns... :P

*grrr* Headmaster is not amused.

Screen caps from the comedy series "Kinvig" in which CJ plays a UFO-seeking geezer who never takes his cap off.

He was moving quite a bit in this one so it was hard to get blur-less caps.. as usual it's two expressions per second so I'm really spoiled with reference pics now! :D

Dickens' not really that interesting book made into an even less so tv-drama. To be honest, even if CJ is in this it's hard to watch. It's boring, the wigs are bad and the casting is even worse so I haven't managed to watch more than the first episode. CJ's got a big red wig that is just wrong!

At the same time as Colin J starred in "The Baron", so did David Burke! He plays a thug hitting people and moving briefcases with cash around (and his hair is dark!). Then some 40 years later he starred in "Midsomer Murders".

In Midsomer Murders he's an old composer who lives as a bum and finds his long-lost daughter etc.. He would make a fine Dr Watson in his later years! Still handsome too... :P

During my brief stint in London some weeks ago, we accidentally stumbled upon a Sherlock Holmes-themed pub.
It turned out it was the one mentioned in Wikipedia:
"During the 1951 Festival of Britain, Sherlock Holmes' sitting-room was reconstructed as the masterpiece of a Sherlock Holmes Exhibition, displaying a unique collection of original material. After the 1951 exhibition closed, items were transferred to the Sherlock Holmes Pub, in London, and to the Conan Doyle Collection in Lucens (Switzerland)"
The sitting-room was not too impressive, but I giggled when I saw the menu (I had a Moriarty)

The Baron and The Oblong Box

In The Baron CJ plays a war veteran confined to a wheelchair and put in a home. This after being held prisoner in a Japanese WW2-camp, where he was tortured and got an arm cut off. As a contrast to "The Truth About George" which I posted caps from earlier, this is insanity in the least funny way possible.

Then there's "The Oblong Box" from 1969. I really wish he had more screen-time here; only forty yrs old/young, strapping, dressed in an Edwardian outfit, and it's in colour. Too bad he only got about 30 seconds and two lines! What a complete misuse of resources!!

The Truth About George

I'm on a roll now so here's some more screen caps, these are from "Wodehouse Playhouse: The Truth About George" from 1973 I think. This guy has done a lot of tv-stuff!

Here he plays a gentleman with a somewhat loose grip on reality: The Emperor of Abyssinia, who has just left his palace (escaped from the mental asylum up the road). Hard to cap, he changes expression every other second! Soo many good moments.. :P

More caps, this time from "K-9" from 1981. CJ plays a groundskeeper and male witch who takes the shape of a goat, tries to sacrifice a teenager, and really care about his crops.

The groundskeeper/witch says hello to the heroine.

Hiding from a silver-painted slow-moving cardboard box vaguely resembling a dog (a "robot dog" - this is a Dr Who-spin off after all)
